Welcome to FLorida AGainst STreet RAcing also known as FLAGSTRA
My name is Wayne and I'd like to personally welcome you here. If you are here to help the fight against "Illegal Street Racing" you have come to the right place. I invite you back often as we will be adding more vital info to this site. Let me know if there is anything I can do to improve this site as we want all the right info to teach our young drivers the importance of vehicle safety and the impact on families and communities should an accident occure due to street racing, driving while impaired or just speeding.

We are a registered not for profit organization and do have 501(c)(3) approval

We are not promoting racing of any sorts, we promote track racing and keeping it off our public roads. We are NOT just trying to educate our youth but also our adults about vehicle safety. How many times have you been late taking your kids to a ball game in the family mini van and a couple kids went speeding past you all the while you cussing them out? then you look down at your own speedometer and you're fighting to keep your speed under 75mph because you're in a 45 zone and don't want to get a speeding ticket. Just because you weren't "Racing" another vehicle doesn't mean things can't go wrong and lose control. We all need to just slow down and maybe leave a little bit earlier.

THIS STATEMENT IS FROM "BEAT THE HEAT"

Almost every night, young drivers around the country enter into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with local law enforcement officials as they try to seek out locations to engage in illegal street racing events. It happens in virtually every major city around the world. While their parents sleep, young men and women sometimes in their own cars, sometimes in the family car, sometimes by merely spectating, are prepared to risk life and limb in the pursuit of 'fun',. Yet despite the accidents, arrests, fines and the danger and risks associated with Illegal Street racing, this activity has been going on for over 50 years. Many wonder what the attraction is. Quite simply, it is because we live in a car culture. The car has for the past 50 years represented freedom to young men and women and independence from one's parents. As time has passed however, automobiles have become a symbol of expression and even 'responsible' adults find themselves buying cars to make a statement of some kind. The difference these days is young people have greater access to high performance cars, performance parts to customise these cars and a higher disposable income. If you couple this together with the natural competitive streak most young adults possess and a desire to increase social standing among their peers, you begin to understand some of the basic drivers behind street racing. The catalyst is adrenaline but like oil and water, petrol, adrenaline and testosterone dont mix. Every young person enjoys a rush, some find it through illegal substances, others find it in gasoline. The combination of compact, affordable high performance cars producing enormous amounts of horsepower, adrenaline and young people wishing to make a statement can be a dangerous mix in the wrong place.

Street racing done on city streets is illegal. You can be hurt or killed or even hurt or kill someone else. These are not merely speculations that some might say COULD happen. They have happened and continue to happen everyday due to those people who think that it is cool or fun to race cars on the streets. Nationwide statistics have shown that almost 50 people in every 1000 who are participating in street racing, are killed. That is a lot of young people that would be alive today if not for illegal street racing. You do have options. You can race legally on the race tracks that provide you with a certain amount of safety and peace of mind. Think about these professional racers that you see on television. These are the people that most of those involved in illegal street racing are trying to mimic. Yet, they have never seen these folks racing on a city street. Their racing takes place on a track and so should yours. If you are caught street racing, there are stiff penalties. Your can be arrested and spend as much as 3 months in jail, and your car be impounded for up to 30 days. You will also be charged with a fine of up to $1,000 while your drivers license is revoked and your insurance can be cancelled. Onlookers are also fined and their cars impounded as well. The bottom line is that street racing, while it might seem like fun and be a "rush", it is illegal and you can completely change your life in the short time that it takes to start up that car and take off. Just ask 15 year old Jeremy, who now speaks out about the dangers of street racing from his prison cell.

ANOTHER STATEMENT BY BUG-BOYS.COM

Street racing, made popular by movies such as the "Fast and the Furious", is a dangerous sport that is spreading like an epidemic across the nation. Also featured in the movies "The Fast and the Furious" and "2 Fast, 2 Furious" are street racing girls, young women who participate in the racing by flagging the cars during the races. These girls are beautiful, range from a variety of ages and backgrounds and have caught the eye of the U.S. population. First, there were DVDs showing street racing in general. Audiences could enjoy the thrills of the races, drool over the cars, and get a glimpse of the beautiful young women who participate in the street racing world. Currently, there are several DVDs that feature young women who participate in the world of street racing. These DVDs show the young women as models, taking part in bikini contests, and modeling with cars during popular auto shows. Also available are calendars, DVDs featuring particular models and they are even featured in auto magazines. There is another side of street racing girls, however. Some of these young women are actually in the races themselves, both legal and illegal racing. All across the country, there is a movement for legal street racing, and women are taking part and winning trophies. Women have been associated with cars for many years. Even in the fifties, car ads have models draped over cars. In the 1980s, posters with both women and cars became incredibly popular, adorning teenage boy's walls all over the country. The association of beautiful women with fantastic cars is not a new concept but is just as popular as it ever was. It is certainly a combination that will continue to occur throughout the world".

So all of you women out there who's ambition it to compete legally, keep winning them trophies. Be a role model and prove that women can Drag, Drift and Auto cross and that its no longer a mans sport.
